What is Invisalign® Treatment?
Invisalign® is a clear aligner system used for correcting the alignment of your teeth and bite correction. Invisalign requires excellent patient cooperation — specifically wearing the aligners 19 to 20 hours a day. Invisalign is best suited for motivated patients!
How is Invisalign® Different?
Invisalign treatment requires the placement of multiple tooth colored attachments. The aligner attachments provide increased retention of the aligner trays as well as provide push surfaces to enhance tooth movement. Attachments remain on the teeth throughout treatment. Attachments are glued directly to the teeth and remain in place even when the aligners are removed. At the end of treatment all attachments are removed.
How Often Am I Seen for Appointments?
Treatment is segmented into a series of aligner stages. Typically patients wear each aligner for two weeks prior to advancing to the next stage. We generally provide 4-5 aligners at a time, meaning we will only require seeing you in the office every 8 weeks for appointments.
Tooth movement with Invisalign is no different than with braces. You should anticipate minor discomfort with each new aligner stage.
Can Invisalign Correct My Bite?
Invisalign treatment, like treatment with braces, may require the use of rubber band elastics to achieve bite correction.
Invisalign is particularly well suited for the correction of anterior open bites.
